We grow our strain of B. infantis with a proprietary process that turns on (or activates) the necessary genes. This allows B. infantis to consume milk oligosaccharides in breast milk better than any other bacteria that may be present in the gut. Yes, mom, you want the activated B. infantis.

Evivo is the only brand clinically proven to restore the infant gut microbiome to its natural state. Evivo doesn't just contain B. infantis; it actually is activated B. infantis which means it's ready to work the minute you give it to your baby.

Isolated from a healthy infant, B. infantis EVC001 is activated to express the genes required to consume human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). This well-studied strain was then developed based on scientific understanding of how B. infantis and HMOs should interact in the infant gut. Using a unique patented method during fermentation ensures that Evivo™Activated B. infantis EVC001, Actibif® can work with breast milk better than any other strain of bacteria.

Bifidobacteria is prevalent in the feces of breast-fed infants. Species that are frequently isolated are Bifidobacterium breve, B. infantis, B. longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium catenulatum and dentium (Sakata et al., 2005; Shadid et al., 2007). However, only B. infantis, which possesses a specialized HMO utilization cluster composed of b-galactosidase, fucosidase, sialidase and b-hexosaminidase are capable of releasing and utilizing monosaccharides from complex HMOs (Ward et al., 2006, 2007; Sela et al., 2008).
